Color Me Blue (soil Sulfur)

Color Me Blue™ Soil Sulfur is an organic safe way to turn your Big Leaf Hydrangea macrophylla blue. This all-natural, pure product can be used as a color corrector to help keep your Hydrangea blue and it also promotes dark green foliage and general plant vigor. Importantly soil sulfur is kid and pet safe and won’t burn your plants.

Directions:

We recommended that you purchase a soil tester first before application to ensure you apply the amount required. The amount required will vary depending on your soils pH, the directions below are for an existing soil pH of 7.0, to get great blue blooms on your hydrangeas you need your pH in the range of 5.0 – 5.8. Results can take some time depending on your soil type, temperature and the time of year of your application. For the full rate pH chart visit:

For New plantings

  • 3 scoops (¼ cup) per plant. Need to check the size of the scoop!
  • Mix in with the soil as you plant your plant and water well.

Existing plantings:

  • 6 Scoops (½ cup) per plant.
  • Work into the top layer of the soil around the root zone staying away from the base of the plant.

Figure 1: After doing your soil test use this table to add the desired amount of Sulfur in pounds per 100 sq. ft of Soil. You can reduce the rates by one-third for sandy soils and increase by one-half for clay soils.

Color Me Pink (Garden Lime)

Color Me Pink™ Hydrated Lime is an organic safe way to keep your Big Leaf Hydrangea macrophylla Pink. This all-natural, pure product can be used as a color corrector to help keep your Hydrangea Pink in an acid soil. This is also some times called “sweetening” the soil, when a soils pH is to low or acidic you can lock up available soil nutrients making them unavailable to the plant.

Directions:

We recommended that you purchase a soil tester first before application to ensure you apply the required amount. This will vary depending on your soils current pH, the directions below are for an existing soil pH of 5.5, to get great pink blooms on your hydrangeas you need your pH in the range of 6.5 – 7.0.
