We absolutely adore the color of BloomStruck® Hydrangeas in the fall! So, we thought, “Why not make the perfect fall arrangement featuring this beauty?”
The fall garden is full of fabulous flowers and foliage! For this arrangement, we wanted those that would complement the purple flowers of BloomStruck®. The yellow in the rudbeckias and achillea did just that. We also wanted to add some texture. That’s where echinacea and First Editions® Amber Jubilee™ Ninebark, Little Devil™ Ninebark, and Shining Sensation™ Weigela came in. Make sure to bring a clean bucket with water along with you in the garden so you can place the stems in water until you start arranging.
To make sure your arrangement has a long vase life, clean off any foliage that will sit below the water line when put into the vase. You can do so by hand like shown in the image above.
Take your BloomStruck® Hydrangeas and clump them together in your hand, loosely holding the stems. This will be your canvas to work with! Add in foliage one by one in the gaps between the blooms. You can also add some height to the arrangement by putting the foliage straight through the top. Just make sure the stems reach through to the bottom so they can get some water, too.
A great way to keep your arrangement together is by tying the stems together with cotton twine. Then, when you put your flowers in a vase, the desired shape will stay without you having to rework the placement.
Once you have your completed arrangement in hand, take a clean pair of garden shears and cut the stems to the desired length. Make sure to cut the stems at a 45° angle.
